My dear friend unexpectedly passed away. He was an avid musician, and he had left behind an unfinished album. With the blessing of his family, I finished Song Boss, a term coined by his fellow musicians.
To reflect his love of hand-built instruments and roots music, I hand-carved a custom woodblock typeface. Ink block textures were used for colors. The liner notes are comprised of photos and stories provided by his closest friends.
During the hours of sorting through photos, reading stories, meticulously carving typography, and listening to his music, I felt close to my friend again.
